CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - When former pro baseball player Morris Madden co-founded the Knothole Foundation, the mission was simple.
“We want to evangelize baseball in the inner city,” Madden said.
That means reaching underserved kids in the community through camps, clinics, and other events centered around baseball.
This week, that included a unique opportunity for local high school players to show what they can do on the diamond.
Knothole held its 6th annual Diversity in Baseball HBCU Showcase, putting 72 players on the field in front of more than 20 HBCU and other college baseball programs.
The event featured individual drills, special guest speakers, and live scrimmage action in front of the college coaches in attendance.
