MIDDLESEX, Vt. (WCAX) - Jed Lipsky arrives with a roar to his latest job, taking down pine trees in Middlesex.

He got his start logging back in his native Massachusetts, where he made ski trails. “I started cutting when I was 15, and loved it, very challenging,” he said.

Lipsky, who likes to work solo, is old-school. He makes his cut and uses wedges with ease to make sure he fells his trees where he wants them. “Experience teaches you a lot,” he said.

Even so, with all those years -- 55 professionally -- there’s bound to be accidents. “I’ve had a lot of surgeries... mostly from logging,” he said. “It’s considered the most dangerous profession in North America.”
