MILTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - After Milton city worker Paul Linville’s death , WSAZ started questioning who is in charge of investigating city worker deaths.

Milton’s mayor and city manager were surprised by WSAZ’s findings that it was up to the municipalities to do an internal investigation into worker deaths.

“I don’t even know if there is an investigation,” Milton Mayor Shane Evans told WSAZ. “I don’t know who is supposed to investigate.”

WSAZ also reached out to state lawmakers, who also expressed surprise about the lack of clarity. State Delegate Dana Ferrell, R-Kanawha, who is the Chair of the House Local Governments Committee, told WSAZ that he’s considering legislation to prevent something like this from happening again.
