MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Cameron Moffett, maintenance director for Mason County Schools, said mold was found in a concentrated area of classrooms at New Haven Elementary School.

Moffett said when school officials were notified about the mold, they sent crews to clean up and test the moisture level. He said that test was normal.

Moffett said the school is not closed and they have brought in dehumidifiers to put in the classrooms that need them.

The principal told us they are working ‘wonderfully.’

Moffett said the West Virginia Department of Education will be at New Haven Friday morning to do a mold assessment. Then they will determine whether the classrooms are safe.

The maintenance director said, as of now, the school is still open and safe.
