KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Five new deputies were sworn in Thursday night during the Kanawha County Commission meeting.
Surrounded by family and friends, they took the oath of office to join the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
The new deputies include Victoria Martin, Evan Landers, Trevor McGuire, Hunter McCoy, and Rodjvon Seldon.
We spoke with two of them, who both say they’re looking forward to getting to work.
“Super excited,” Martin said. “I can’t even put it into words. It’s definitely nerve-racking but also exciting and rewarding.”
Seldon said, “Going to the academy and learning everything I can for coming out on the road.”
The deputies will begin further training at the West Virginia State Police Academy in the coming weeks.
