ONEIDA, Wis. (WBAY) - 10 students from Sanger B. Powers Correctional Center were handed college diplomas on Thursday at NWTC.
Those 10 people studied for 15 weeks to earn that diploma through a specialized industrial maintenance training program.
All of the graduates learned skills they can use in the field, and this gives them the chance to get a job through work-release programs.
One of the students says they’ve worked in manufacturing for years, and now with this program, they can further their career and their life.
“It gives you a sense of worth knowing that you’re able to get the concept of difficult information and being able to obtain that, and also it helps you as a stepping stone in the future to get gainful employment,” says Gaylon Trippett.
The diploma also works as 15 col
