GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Four people were displaced by a basement fire in Green Bay on Thursday night.

Around 6 p.m. on Thursday, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 1000 block of Chantel Street.

On scene, crews found black smoke coming from the front door and chimney and entered the home to find the source of the fire. The fire was located in the basement and was deemed under control in about 10 minutes.

GBMFD says all four people in the building self-evacuated, and nobody was injured. They estimate the dollar loss of the fire to be $10,000.

GBMFD would like to remind everyone to check their smoke detectors to make sure they’re in working condition.
