IOWA CITY — There's no shortage of position battles taking place for Iowa football as the 2025 season nears.
Cornerback has been highly discussed. So has linebacker. Left tackle is another. There is healthy competition for playing time at wide receiver and running back, too.
There’s also a certain position battle that has garnered much less attention, but it’s important, nonetheless.
Iowa ’s special teams unit has a chance to be lethal in 2025. Veteran kicker Drew Stevens is coming off a fantastic season. Kaden Wetjen is the reigning Jet Award winner, given to the top return specialist in college football. Punter Rhys Dakin could make a jump from freshman to sophomore seasons.
