NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at a state-operated women’s facility on Thursday afternoon, according to the Nashville Fire Department.

NFD said they responded to the facility in the 1200 block of Foster Avenue just after 4 p.m. for reports of a fire with a person evacuating the building.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found smoke and flames coming from the building.

Crews conducted a search of the building and confirmed there was no one inside.

Firefighters then began working to extinguish the fire and were able to contain it.
