NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Commission is suing the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
TIRRC said the lawsuit is a result THP withholding records of their immigration enforcement efforts with Immigration and Customs Enforcement earlier this year.
WSMV4 Investigates reported last month that THP and ICE partnered up and conducted an operation overnight on May 4 and 5, 2025, in South Nashville, that resulted in 369 traffic stops, 11 arrests, and 94 individuals being detained by ICE, according to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDSHS), obtained by lawmakers.
The THP and ICE enforcement efforts continued after for days after that overnight operation and saw well over 500 stops total.
