ROSEBURG, Ore. - Starting on Friday, the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) is lowering the fire danger level from extreme to high due to predicted cooler temperatures and increased humidity.
Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 15, public use restrictions will be reduced to high for lands within the Douglas District. Despite the change, residents should remain cautious as fire season is still in effect. The expected rain over the weekend will not end the fire risk.
Non-industrial activities like power saw use and metal cutting are only allowed before 10 a.m. or after 8 p.m. Backyard burning and open fires remain prohibited, except at designated sites.
