A beloved family dog's life was saved after a routine dental check revealed a life-threatening disease - requiring extremely risky surgery within days.

Eddie, a nine -year-old border terrier, was taken to the vets after his owner, Dee, noticed a lump on his gum.

Eddie was brought in to All Creatures Vets in Warrington for a free 'summer smiles' dental check.

Vet Simon Gillingham confirmed Eddie had dental disease, and would need surgery under anaesthetic to remove the lump. But Simon also recommended taking blood samples to make sure it was safe to proceed - and those tests proved vital.
