CANTON, Ill. (WMBD) -- Some central Illinois schools will be receiving grants from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
This was part of $95,000 in youth literacy grants awarded to schools and organizations around Illinois, a Dollar General Literacy Foundation news release said.
Locally, Ingersoll Middle School in Canton was awarded $2,567 and District 50 Schools in Washington was awarded $5,000. The money will go towards purchasing books, technology or materials to help K-12 students.
“As the need for accessible educational materials and resources for our country’s youth continues, we are proud to provide vital support to local literacy programs,” Denine Torr, executive director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, said.
