EUREKA, Ill. (WMBD) -- The world's largest disc golf tournament kicked off at Eureka Lake on Thursday.
The Ledgestone Open includes 2,400 men and women from across the world coming to play for part of the $103,220 payout.
Nate Heinold, founder and tournament director, shares what the most exciting thing about the competition is.
"You just bring all of your disc golf friends into one spot to play disc golf and do games and have fun with everything we offer here at the event," said Heinold. "It's kind of just like a reunion for the disc golf family."
950 of this year's players have never competed in the Ledgestone Open before, with more than 1,400 returning players.
Around 500 people showed up at Five Points in Washington on Thursday morning to check in for the competition.
