BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) -- The Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts will convert to a cashless concession stand, starting on the first of September.

This decision comes after Grossinger Motors Arena, which the BCPA manages, went cashless a year ago.

"So far, we've seen that it's been really effective, and it's not only helped create a safer environment for our patrons, but it also helps us on the back end, and it saves some staff time too. So we decided to implement it over here at the BCPA," said Josh Maubach, the marketing manager for the BCPA.

The theater will take credit and debit cards, as well as digital wallets, for payments involving concessions. Cash and checks will not be accepted, but can still be used at the box office for ticket payments. Maubach said that this chang
