EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Texas longhorn is a lot like a World War II jeep; if you see one in person, you just have to stop and look, just like thousands do every year at the National Western Stock Show parade in Denver.

Yup, the Texas longhorn cattle are alive and well and some are living right here on the Silverado Ranch in El Paso County.

“The great American trail drives of the 1800s were all horned cattle. First of all, you couldn't have driven a Hereford 600 miles up the trail or they would either be wasted away to nothing or dead before they got there," said Silverado Ranch Co-Owner Gary Lake.
