OLD TOWN, Maine — Leaders with the Old Town Police Department said they are seeing an uptick in vandalism caused by teenagers.
"We've been pretty busy this summer," Chelsea Brasslett, patrol officer for the Old Town Police Department, said.
The department has seen nearly a dozen incidents of vandalism and damage to city property since the start of the summer in the downtown area.
"We've definitely stepped up walking patrols and stuff in all hours of the evening and overnight," Brasslett said.
Most recently, Old Town Police Chief David White said two minors broke a paper towel dispenser and clogged sinks and toilets at the city's park.
"It's taking their resources away from what they should be doing," White said.
