ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Community organizations are stepping up to support the family after the death of South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Dennis Ricks , who was killed while on duty.

“The reality is this is a dangerous job, and you can’t predict what you are walking into.”

Kassy Alia Ray is the founder of Serve & Connect—the same organization supporting a fundraiser for Trooper Dennis Ricks.

Alia Ray lost her husband in the line of duty. This organization carries on her husband Gregory’s legacy while providing for a community that showed up for her during her time of loss.

“It’s not about us. It’s about showing up in honor of Trooper Ricks and in support of their family. And whatever they need, we are proud to work with our partners to do everything we can to support them.”
