Rancho Fire is between 50 to 100 acres on a ridge line off Chuckwagon Road in Rancho Haven, Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District reported.
"The fire is moving away from structures," said TMFPD's Adam Mayberry. "Air attack and multiple agencies on scene."
No evacuations are in place.
"Please avoid the area," Mayberry said.
Truckee Meadows fire district and the Bureau of Land Management are working in a unified command to fight the fire.

A fire broke out about 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Rancho Haven area north of Reno.
The Watch Duty app reported a fire east of Chariot Road and Spoke Road. It's calling the blaze the Rancho Fire.
Adam Mayberry of Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District put the fire at six acres.
