KINGSTON BARBOSA didn’t want to stop after he got a taste of surfing for the first time at Hampton’s North Beach.

The 11-year-old boy from Beverly, Mass., had never been in the ocean or on a surfboard before last Thursday.

A handful of surf coaches positioned his board at just the right spot for it to catch the momentum of a wave and Kingston was off. He eased himself up, held his arms out for balance and rode all the way to shore, where he immediately turned and ran back into the ocean.

“I just kept looking out and saying, ‘Wow, how amazing this is that this event is put together,’” said his mother, Stephanie Moore, who added that activities like surfing aren’t always an option for her son, who has autism and ADHD. “It definitely brings up some emotions.
