MINNEAPOLIS — When Marigold Non-Alcoholic Bottle Shop opened in Minneapolis nearly three years ago, it didn't have much competition.
"We were the only place in the state," said general manager Josie Schumacher. "And liquor stores just didn't quite see the benefit to having a lot of non-alcoholic options."
But they didn't have the market cornered for long.
"Now there are whole stores and restaurants with menus that give non-alcoholic options, it's just becoming more accessible," she said.
Schumacher says the change has been driven by a huge shift in demand.
"We've seen definitely an increase in people not drinking," she said. "Or people curious in decreasing the amount of alcohol they drink."
