MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) —Driving through downtown Mobile will look a little different starting this week.
Twenty-six traffic lights are now flashing red, converting several intersections into four-way stops as a part of the city’s $1.1 million Downtown Street Optimization Plan.
Some residents say they're already missing the old lights.
“I prefer we should have a normal light, because a four-way light, it depends, like some people might not understand what the four-way light represents,” a Mobile resident said.
Others, like Johnny Brutkiewicz, worry about confusion at the intersections.
“It's confusing, and some people might think, 'Well, this light's blinking red, but on the other side, blinking red or is it blinking yellow?'” Burtkiewicz said.
