FRANKLIN, N.C. —

A convicted sex offender in North Carolina has been arrested for soliciting a child online and attempted statutory rape, according to police.

On Wednesday, officers with the Franklin Police Department arrested 42-year-old Joshua Allen Sloan, of Statesville, North Carolina.

Officers charged Sloan with the following:

Attempted statutory rape

Soliciting a child by computer or other electronic device to commit an unlawful sex act resulting in appearance at meeting location

Disseminating material harmful to minors

According to police, Sloan is a high risk sex offender who has the status of aggravated/recidivist. He is also currently on parole. Sloan has multiple criminal convictions involving crimes against children, including statutory rape, indecent liberties, and sexu
