TROY, Texas — It's now been more than a year since the Maynard family tragedy .

The family of four from Troy went missing when their boat capsized in Alaska in 2024, but it wasn't until June 2025 that their bodies were recovered.

The Troy community has since rallied around the memory of David, Mary, and their sons, Colton and Brantley, memoralizing the family.

"The pain still lingers, but we want to say goodbye to the pain, but never say goodbye to their memories," Troy ISD Superintendent Neil Jeter said.

In early August, Mays Elementary in Troy hosted a bell-ringing ceremony to honor the memory of 7-year-old Brantley Maynard.
