AUSTIN, Texas — The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched a safety investigation into Wednesday's school bus rollover crash in northwestern Travis County that resulted in 17 people being sent to the hospital.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, officials received a call reporting the crash at around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. According to the Travis County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred in the 22300 block of Nameless Road, near Palamino Ranch Drive and Honeycomb Lane.

A total of 42 children and one adult were on the bus when the crash occurred. The bus had originated from Bagdad Elementary School in Leander, which had just had its first day of the new school year.
