To address housing issues in the county, the Mason County Board of Commissioners approved advancing funds to the Mason County Land Bank Authority in the amount of $6,900,000 to meet the availability of funds MSHDA (Michigan State Housing Development Authority) requires for the two Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) the land bank is applying for to provide manufactured homes.

The Finance, Personnel and Rules Committee recommended that the money be available on an as needed basis, with funds to come from the Community Development Housing Grant fund and the general fund.

The grant applications are due Sept. 17, and the land bank would need the advanced amount by then to secure funding. The grant would allow for 15 units to be built per round of application, so up to potentially 30 ho
