NORTH RANDALL, Ohio - Fair and Square, with jockey Rocco Bowen aboard, captured the 76th running of the Governor’s Buckeye Cup Stakes at Thistledown Racino, highlighting an action-packed day of Best of Ohio series racing.
In a field of twelve horses, Fair and Square tracked the early pacesetters before making his move at the one-mile mark. The gelding, owned by Blazing Meadows Farm LLC and America’s Thoroughbred Investors, and trained by Timothy E. Hamm, broke away from early leader Superwolf in the final turn. Fair and Square finished a half-length ahead of Private Moment and Silence, completing the 1 1/4 mile race in 2:06.13 to claim the winners’ share of the $100,000 purse.
