CLEVELAND, Ohio - The summer heat wave has persisted in recent weeks and has made for slowing the angling success along the Lake Erie shoreline, and put the brakes on fishing success around the local inland lakes and reservoirs.
The temperatures on the smaller lakes have soared, but that hasn’t stopped local fishermen. Surprising numbers have been launching boats or casting from shore this past week. Many have shifted to early dawn and late dusk fishing for largemouth bass, walleye, channel catfish, crappie and bluegills.
The Portage Lakes have been consistently popular for bass and panfish, especially Turkeyfoot and Mud lakes. Mosquito and Pymatuning reservoirs have been crowded, at times, and bass anglers are focusing on Nimisila and Wingfoot lakes.
