LAW ENFORCEMENT BRACES FOR STUDENT WAVE

Preparing for another semester of the collective student onslaught, the Chico Police Department is stepping up its presence in the areas surrounding Chico State University.
Community outreach officer Sgt. John Rucker said staffing is being increased from now through Halloween.
In recent mid-August weekends leading into the first week of classes, officers have been assigned the task of citing minors in possession of alcohol, but not this weekend.
“There’s not a directed enforcement (planned),” Rucker said. “There’s so many MIP violations there’s no need to sneak up on anything.”
