WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - Deputies say a van left the road, traveled about 500 yards through a cornfield and hit the front porch of a southern Illinois home.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to the 19000 block of Corinth Road around 11:04 a.m. on Thursday, August 14 for a crash.

They say the driver told them a mechanical issue caused the accelerator to stick, leading to the van traveling off the road and into the porch.

Deputies say the driver had minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

The Williamson County Fire Department responded and reinforced the front porch so the vehicle could be removed without the porch collapsing.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate.
