Two RAF Typhoon jets were scrambled to intercept a private aircraft over London, with reports of a "huge boom" echoing across southern England.
Residents in Essex and Kent reported hearing "the boom" whilst others said they felt their "houses shake" terrifyingly at around 11.30am this morning.
Concerned locals were left puzzled as they emerged onto the streets following what is believed to have been a sonic boom across southeastern England.

Two Typhoon aircraft from RAF Coningsby were reportedly dispatched to intercept the private jet over Cambridgeshire, but tracking maps revealed the jets also flew over London this morning.
