Yesterday’s highs came in right where we expected — low to mid-80s through the metro and down into the valley. Overnight, light rain began along the northern coast and has spread into the metro and southwest Washington this morning.

We’ve got a pretty impressive late-summer system moving in today, bringing widespread rain and breezy south winds later today into tomorrow morning.

Light showers will continue through the day, but the real rain arrives late this afternoon at the coast, spreading inland this evening and overnight. That’s when we’ll shift from spotty showers to steady, widespread rain — at times moderate to heavy — especially in the coastal mountains and Cascades.
