PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - Two people were taken into custody during a large police presence in northeast Portland early Friday morning.

Police say officers were doing an investigation on a suspicious car at Northeast 75th Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard at about 2:44 a.m. when two people ran from them.

Officers found a gun in the car and there was concern for the safety of the public, according to police.

A tactical team, along with a K-9 team and drone operators, responded to the area to help search for the suspects.

Police say the two suspects were found inside the search perimeter and safely taken into custody.
