ST. MARY'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- A Great Mills man is facing several child abuse charges in connection with the death of an 11-year-old boy in St. Mary's County.

On Aug. 12, Tyrone Edward Proctor, 40, was served with a Grand Jury Indictment warrant for child abuse in the first degree for: contributing to the death of a child under 13 years, course of conduct and severe physical injury. An additional second-degree child abuse charge was issued for reckless endangerment.

The charges came after an 11-year-old boy died more than four months ago.

On May 8, deputies with the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and medics responded to the 22000 block of Castle Pollard Way in Great Mills for the report of a child not breathing. When first responders arrived, they tried to save an 11-year-
