Earlier this week, Megadeth posted a cryptic video to social media that simply stated “the end is near.”
Now, the thrash metal band has confirmed what fans suspected: Megadeth will embark on a farewell tour and release their final studio album in the coming months.
The Grammy Award-winning metal group, which has sold more than 50 million records worldwide, made the announcement via a social media video of their mascot, Vic Rattlehead.
“It is confirmed — the next Megadeth studio album will be the last,” an actor dressed as Rattlehead said. “Forty years of metal, forged in steel, ending in fire. And when the new world rises, the global farewell tour.”
