NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A man is facing drug and other charges in connection to a Friday morning report of shots fired outside a motel.
Darnell Nia Rivers Jr., 25, of North Charleston, is charged with drug trafficking, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and two counts of having a weapon while committing a violent crime.
This comes after North Charleston Police responded to the Charleston Heights Motel in the area of Rivers Avenue and Meeting Street Road when someone reported hearing gunshots.
At the scene, police say they found drugs, scales, a handgun and an AR-style rifle in one of the motel rooms.
Rivers was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. His bond has not been set yet.
Police say the investigation into this shooting is ongoing.
