PARMA, Ohio -- As a member of the Homestead Hoofers 4-H Club, Maverick Metz, 10, recently completed a replica of Stearns Homestead in Parma.

“It took two weekends to complete, but it turned out awesome,” said Parma resident Metz, who is homeschooled. “The project was a model railroad, so I was building a layout. I made Stearns Homestead with the railroad to look like Ridge Road.

“If we had some more time, we could’ve made it more similar and with less changes to make it fit on the layout, but I definitely think it looks really good.”

The detailed display, which even includes Metz’s favorite horse, Penny, was on display last week at the Cuyahoga County Fair.

The boy’s mother, Stacie, said the project accurately represents her son’s love of 4-H.
