TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City commission will be reviewing plans for the 14th Street construction project as well as Community Development Block Grant funding at its upcoming Aug. 18 regular meeting.

According to its provided project plans,14th Street in Traverse City is facing rapid deterioration, prompting the need for interim maintenance ahead of the planned 2028 reconstruction by the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The street has seen rising maintenance costs, frequent pothole repairs and increased tire damage claims from residents.

To address these issues, a partial mill and overlay is proposed for fall 2025, covering about 6,574 linear feet of drive lanes between Cass Street and Maple Street, excluding the Veterans Drive intersection. The work aims to enhance drivabil
