GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand Island man is going to prison as a result of an undercover sex crime investigation.

Court records show Hall County District Judge Patrick Lee Thursday sentenced 41-year-old Ricky Ramirez to 26-40 years in prison for attempted use of an electronic device to commit sexual assault.

His conviction stems from an investigation by Grand Island Police.

GIPD said Ramirez contacted an undercover investigator posing on-line as a 14-year-old girl in February. Court records indicate that Ramirez discussed specific sex acts with the undercover officer during the social media contacts.

Grand Island police said he set up a meeting with the girl at a Grand Island convenience store and that’s where police arrested him.
