WINN PARISH, La. (KALB) - Four people were cited on August 6 for alligator hunting violations in Winn Parish, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Brenton Carpenter, 19, of Winnfield, Treyton Trawick, 23, of Winnfield, Sawyer Watkins, 18, of Jonesboro, and a 17-year-old juvenile were all cited for eight counts each of taking or possessing alligators during a closed season.
On August 2, LDWF heard reports of dead alligators floating on Saline Lake. They found the alligators with bullet wounds in their heads and some tails removed.
It was determined that the four people were frogging in the early morning hours of August 1 when they killed the eight alligators.
According to LDWF, taking or possessing alligators during a closed season brings a $400 - $950 fine
