On Thursday, August 8 th , the Phoenix Fire Department posthumously promoted deceased Phoenix Firefighter Adam Cauthron to Captain. The ceremony was held at the Phoenix Fire Administration building.

\r\nAdam passed away in September of 2024 after 18 years on the job as a Phoenix Fire Fighter. He was on the “Captain’s List” before his untimely death and received the honor posthumously from Phoenix Fire Chief, Mike Duran.\r\n

Captain Cauthron’s legacy as a fire fighter was one of leadership, hard work, dedication and professionalism. He held multiple specialized certifications including technical rescues and hazardous materials. Additionally, Captain Cauthron was a member of FEMA’s Arizona Task Force 1 special operations unit. \r\n
