VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) – Charges have been announced against the owners of a dog that’s accused of viciously attacking an 8-year-old boy earlier this year.

Michael Millet, 8, was mauled to death in Volusia County, Florida, in January.

Now, several months later, the State Attorney’s for Florida’s 18th Judicial Circuit charged Amanda Franco in connection with the attack.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Franco’s dog was one of two that attacked Michael while he was riding his bike with a friend.

Officials said in a news conference in January Michael stopped to pet the dogs. The encounter started friendly, but then the dogs quickly turned vicious and brutally attacked him.
