Dale Kennedy still gets emotional when thinking back on his coaching career at Montana State.
He can remember every name on the 1983 women’s Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships team — the first women’s title at MSU. Kennedy cried when thinking about the Bobcats upsetting Northern Arizona to win the 2002 Big Sky men’s cross country team title.
He beamed when looking back at Ellie (Rudy) van Swearingen ‘s pair of pole vault national titles, Shannon Butler ‘s outdoor 5,000 and 10,000 meters titles and Jennifer (Cleary) Hoogesteger ‘s third-place finish in the women’s indoor 3,000 meters at the 1993 NCAA Indoor Championships.
