ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A graduation ceremony was held Friday in Rochester for the 'Next Gen of Surgery' internship program, a partnership between URMC and Encompass Resources for Learning.
The program saw 16 high school students from Rochester complete a six-week internship, which included 65 hours of clinical shadowing, surgical workshops, and research. The initiative aims to provide local teenagers with a pathway to careers in the healthcare field.
"This makes me so hopeful for Rochester because this is exactly who we want in healthcare," said Rebecca Ferri, CCO of Encompass Resources for Learning.
