A local citizens group says the process used to draft Coweta County’s data center ordinance excluded residents and should start over.

Steve Swope, speaking for Citizens for Rural Coweta, said no citizen comments were included in the “ Consolidated Feedback” document that guided commissioners during a July 22 work session.

The omission, he said, left public voices out of a discussion that will shape regulations for large-scale facilities such as the proposed “Project Sail” rezoning.

“The document that guided the discussion was developed by county staff and commented on by developers and their allies,” Swope said. “The feedback from citizens who have lived in Coweta for many years or for generations was completely and totally absent.”
