MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - A new tool is available to help Vermont communities prevent child abuse at the grassroots level.
The organization Prevent Child Abuse Vermont on Friday launched what they call the Healthy Relationships Project. It includes new trainings for local schools and families, including age-appropriate lessons on consent, boundaries, and respect. The goal is to give communities tools to get ahead of child abuse before it happens.
“We try to train the trainers, as it were, where we certify folks who can carry these trainings forward and assist the communities and organizations in their own space,” said the group’s Jonathan Williams.
The nonprofit is also holding a yoga event at the Statehouse on Saturday, and their upcoming annual walk on September 20.
