SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Bend Police Department joined the back-to-school celebrations with their annual cookout on Friday.
The cookout was held at Southeast Park, near Wenger Street and High Street.
The event was free to the public and families with kids of all age groups were in attendance.
Officers were manning the grill as kids lined up for their plates.
The kids enjoyed tasty BBQ, a bounce house, games and a giveaway.
“This is awesome. It’s a lot of work on the prep in but it’s all worth it,” said Kyle Dombrowski the captain of the South Bend Police Department. “We’re just out here trying to work with our community work together and do our part in making that relationship better.”
