SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 4:49 p.m. 8/15/2025] The wreck has been cleared and roadways are once again open on I-16 near Chatham Parkway.

According to the Garden City Police Department, police tried to stop a stolen vehicle on Dean Forest Road when the driver struck another vehicle and then continued down I-16 eastbound.

[ORIGINAL STORY] There is a heavy police presence on I-16 and police have closed down portions of the road near Chatham Parkway.

WTOC is on the scene and has seen police clearing people from the road.

We have been told that police are attempting to recover a vehicle which has fell between the ditch and the trees by the Chatham Parkway exit.

There are no serious injuries.
