Warren — A former Warren police officer accused of killing two men in a September car crash was ordered Friday to stand trial for manslaughter in their deaths.

James Burke was bound over by 37th District Court Judge John Chmura.

Burke did not appear in court. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Macomb County Circuit Court on Sept. 2.

Authorities allege Burke on Sept. 30 crashed into an SUV occupied by two men as it waited on Schoenherr Road to turn left on Prospect Street just north of Eight Mile.

Cedric Hayden Jr. and Dejuan Pettis, who were in the SUV, both died in the crash. Hayden was driving, and Pettis was his passenger. Both were close friends and autoworkers.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident and presented a warrant request to prosecutors. In Novem
