KENT COUNTY, Mich. —

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) is reminding people that drones are not just robots with cameras: they can help save lives.

Earlier this week, KCSO trained on how drones, like the Matrice 300, can assist in water rescues by dropping life preservers and other items to people in the water.

“We use it for multiple things, for search and rescue, obviously, other things, like mapping crashes, multiple different things that we can use it here for,” said Deputy Tyler Poirier.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Scott Dietrich says there is a lot of things KCSO can do with drones that people don’t realize.
